Review: The Paris Apartment

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Omigosh. I tried to get ahead of the narrator at every step of this book and I could NOT! The Paris Apartment isn’t my usual jam. There weren’t many picks for March’s Book of the Month Club choices that I was interested in so I went with this one, thinking that it would at least read quickly since it’s a thriller. And I was absolutely right. I read it in one day, practically in one sitting. I was turning pages furiously, working with Jess to try to get to the bottom of what was going on at that shady apartment building.

I won’t share too much of the plot for risk of exposing spoilers. What I’ll say about The Paris Apartment is that it’s a fun ride with a lot of twists and turns, a lot like a roller coaster. It’s dark in the right places and is so well-knit that it’s hard to believe that this is only Foley’s third book. The ending… *chef’s kiss*

I definitely recommend The Paris Apartment if you’re looking for a thriller to read at breakneck speed. It’s not literary; it’s not going to win the Man Booker or Pulitzer prizes or anything. But it’s a great way to pass a cloudy Sunday afternoon, and it’ll keep you guessing.
